Responsibilities
- The deputy commander of the safety of the vessel and her crew
- Managing the bridge watchkeepers as directed by the Master
- The designated Ship Security Officer as director by the Master and fleet management
- In charge of the deck department as directed by the Master
- In charge of the emergency response team and managing the lifesaving appliances, firefighting equipment, search and rescue devices
- In charge of crew training, safety drills and keeping records accordingly
- Suggest improvements and saving within his area of involvement
- In charge of managing the mooring stations, anchoring, and lifting operations
- Identify risks/ hazards and conduct risk assessments in accordance with the ISM
Must Have
- A Certificate of Competency as deck officer from an IMO recognized center as applicable to vessel's GT
- Safet Mandatory Courses as set in 1978, 1995 STCW Regulations and its amendments
- Blaze and Major Patron Licenses are not considered
- ECDIS, GMDSS, ISM and ISPS certified
- Sea time experience not less than 1 year in same function and on similar vessel's type and size
